How to use

You may find the following letterbox leaflet helpful. It is designed to remove the emotion of a handwritten note, and seeks to mediate and de-escalate. Read the form carefully and make sure it is compatible with your specific situation before use.

1. Using your mouse, click one of the breach categories, and tick if a diary is being kept or the matter is with council.

2. Fold the leaflet in three being careful to leave text facing outward.

3. Place in letterbox with the purple NoBark! logo facing up so it is seen.

Remember, This may come as a surprise to the owner so please be considerate if you meet them.

  • Nuisance barking

  • At large (more than once)
  • A diary is being kept online.

Questions and answers

I dont think it's my Dog

This is a common and reasonable response. Most dog owners are unaware of their dog's behaviour as they tend to "play up" when the owner is not at home.

It is not uncommon for the owner to first hear of the problem when an angry neighbour leaves an emotional note in the letterbox or knocks on the door.

If a diary is being kept for your address, (ticked above) look carefully at the times and comments to see if you are away from the house at these times, or any other patterns.

Why couldn't they have just talked to me?

Again, this is another natural response. Try not to be offended that your neighbour has taken a more neutral approach, some find it difficult to approach their neighbours, as they may be concerned about a negative reaction.

What can I do?

NoBark! cannot provide specific direction. However, the information is available to assist you in making positive changes to resolve a matter that is negatively impacting your neighbours. If your neighbour has reported your dog for barking, all they want is for the barking to stop.

Please consider, if you do nothing the matter is likely to escalate and will could be reported to council, who may pursue legal avenues to resolve the matter. If your neighbours can see you are trying, and notice a difference, they will likely become more tolerant because...
